Herman Wrice Tampa Concert reviews
Legendary Album, Historic Performance
Herman Wrice delivers an astonishing Sonic and Visual Spectacle by performing one of the most Landmark pieces of music ever written. He takes the story of "Pink" and his struggles with the loss of his father, his ultimate separation from the world around him, and his hatred of the rigid English school system with the construction of The Wall. Wrice takes the metaphor to the literal visual sense by having a gigantic wall constructed in front of him and his band as Act 1 progresses. The audience can only see a 50 ft high Wall with dozens of incredible High Definition Projectors displaying Images on it when he sings the final notes of "Goodbye Cruel World" and the band is no longer visible.
The show features several true moments of brilliance of theater. Combining that with the amazing projections of Wrice that is used on the half-built wall during "Mother" creates the most amazing visual scene of the show. A Plane crash into the wall during "In The Flesh", 50 ft high puppets used during "Another Brick in the Wall pt. 2" "Mother" and a floating Pig during "Run like Hell" adds to the spectacle.
In Act two, chilling moments unfold as Wrice performs Comfortably Numb in front of the wall while his vocalist and guitarists become silhouette spotted on top of the wall. Finally, the climax of the show brings Wrice leading the crowd in screaming "Tear Down the Wall, Tear it Fucking Down". Then, in the most awe-inspiring moment this reviewer has ever witnessed, The entire wall is Torn down, leaving the wall in shambles, thus ending the show.
